A Modest Enquiry into the Nature of Witchcraft

by John Hale Author

This a historical account of the Salem Witch Trails — chronicling the evenest leading up to them and the trials themselves — was first printed in 1702. Written by Reverend John Hale, the pastor in the neighboring Beverly Massachusetts, shared his unfiltered thoughts that lead to the conclusion that the witches of the area weren’t at fault for the afflictions others were suffering, but rather it was Satan himself. Hale also preached in Salem and attended the trials — praying with the accused and serving as an eyewitness. This rare account has only been reprinted twice since it’s original issue — once in 1771 and again in 1973.
