Winter

This is the second volume in the author’s autobiographical quartet based on the seasons. Winter is a beautiful collection of daily meditations and letters addressed to author Karl Ove Knausgaard’s unborn daughter. Knausgaard awaits his daughter’s birth and reflects on the world, seeing it anew. He writes about familiar objects and ideas, infusing them with new meaning. New life is on the horizon, but the earth is in hibernation, creating a contradictory melancholy.

Knausgaard’s writing is described as startling, compassionate, and exquisitely beautiful. He shows the world as it truly is, at once mundane and sublime.
