A Career in Books: A Novel About Friends, Money, and the Occasional Duck Bun

They know their dues, but the challenges they face (Shirin’s boss assumes she knows Cantonese, Nina can’t get promoted, and Silvia deals with microaggressions) are just part of the job. When they meet their elderly neighbor, Veronica Vo, a Booker Prize winner, each woman finds inspiration in her life. The result is full of twists and revelations that surprise both the reader and the women themselves.
