Three Mothers: How the Mothers of Martin Luther King Jr, Malcolm X and James Baldwin Shaped a Nation
Berdis Baldwin, Alberta King, and Louise Little, extraordinary women, raised their sons James, Martin Luther, and Malcolm, respectively, but little has been taught about these women despite the knowledge the world has on their sons. Despite facing racial prejudice, Jim Crow, exploitation, violence, and police vitriol, they instilled resilience, resistance, and greatness in their sons. They became mothers not just to three world-famous men but to the civil rights movement itself. These women represent untold history and a long-overdue celebration of Black motherhood.
