American Prisoner of War Camps in Colorado

This book explores the history and experiences of prisoners of war during World War II, in the state of Colorado. It will go into stories of escape, death, treason, and more. The tales the book recounts have been compiled from interviews of the time—testimonies of the prisoners, guards, officers, translators, and other workers and civilians whose lives were affected by these camps. Given the treatment of these prisoners, the captives formed relationships with their captors that would influence international relations in the years to come with the former Axis Powers. There were a total of 51 of these camps; readers will find about life and the lives of people here, as well as exploring those that died in these places.
