The Chronicles of DOOM: Unraveling Rap's Masked Iconoclast
This is a book is a biographical ode to one of hip-hop and rap’s most beloved, iconic, and ground shaking artist’s—MF Doom. Dividing his life into five thematic sections (The Man, The Myth, the Mask, the Music, and the Legend), the book takes us into the life of Daniel Dumile Jr. starting at the house he grew up in, in New York. Here, the book hops around his many stomping grounds, through the development of his presence and influence in music scenes, drawing out his history as deftly as it also draws out a history of East Coast Rap. Through these times and places, author S. H. Fernando (or SKIZ) explores the man, his personas and projects, that made him a supervillain with the stickiest flow, hero of lyrical Rochambeau.
MF Doom passed on Halloween of 2020, with the world finding out on the last day of the year. This book won several awards in 2024 for chronicling this legend’s life.
