This book aims to not only transform UN missions but also expand the scope of architecture’s operative realm. The book presents research and projects involving policymakers, military engineers and officers, anthropologists, local inhabitants, activists, rebels, diplomats, ministers, architects, and planners. It demonstrates how inclusive engagement models can challenge entrenched institutional bureaucracies. Additionally, it showcases how designs rooted in local cultures and empowering approaches can address a history of violence.
