Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic

Alison Bechdel's autobiographical graphic novel-turned-musical (which, by the way, won the 2015 Tony Award for Best Musical) beautifully details her experience of growing up in a small Pennsylvania town. Her drawings are a beautiful rehashing of the past, focusing mainly on her dysfunctional relationship with her father and her own sexual awakening. Witty, poignant, and chock-full of references to great literature, Fun Home is a piece bound to be enjoyed by any reader, graphic novel enthusiast or not.
