The Funsten 500
by John Jennings Illustrator
In St. Louis, Missouri in 1933, 500 Black women who worked for the Funsten Nut Company mounted a successful strike against the industry giant, citing low wages and inhumane working conditions as major concerns. Their success paved the way for so many other labor uprisings, many of which were led by Black women. Celebrate their legacy with this poster!
