Science for the People
In 1969, scientists opposed to the US war on Vietnam and formed an organization dedicated to science for the people, not profit. They published Science for the People, the flagship publication of the radical science movement, until 1989. Challenging militarization and corporate control, they fought racism and sexism in science and mobilized workers for science, technology, and medicine serving social needs. In 2014, activists in the US and Mexico rebuilt the organization, with local chapters and working groups. The magazine was relaunched in 2019, run by volunteers for science and society free from capital. The organization was invigorated by the older generation’s organizing efforts that brought radical science principles to those transforming the world today.
This poster honors that movement and, notably nine people involved.
