Soulevements des Banlieues 2005
On October 27th, 2005, teens Zyed Benna and Bouna Traoré tragically lost their lives in Clichy-Sous-Bois’s power station after being electrocuted. They were being pursued by the police and the two officers who witnessed their entry into the site failed to take any action, disregarding the imminent danger to the teenagers’ lives. This incident sparked widespread riots across the Parisian banlieues (suburban neighborhoods) which lasted for an astonishing three weeks.
