Van Mahotsav

In the first week of July 2018, volunteers in India set a remarkable record by planting an astonishing 66 million trees during the annual National Festival of Tree Planting, known as Van Mahotsav. This tradition, which has its roots in 1950, was initiated by the then Minister of Agriculture Kanaiyalal Meneklal Munshi. The primary objective of this campaign is to encourage each person in India to plant at least one tree annually, as part of a larger effort to combat global climate change.

This poster was designed by Helen Peña and is printed at a worker one and union run Community Printers in Santa Cruz, California.
