Idle No More
Idle No More, a grassroots resistance movement, was launched in December 2012 by three First Nations women and an ally in Canada. The movement emerged in response to the Federal Government’s persistent violations of Indigenous treaty rights and the implementation of changing regulations in the Navigation Protection Act and the Environmental Assessment Act. This led to numerous protests, occupations, hunger strikes, marches, and blockades across Canada.
The movement has since expanded into a global movement, urging all people to join a revolution that upholds Indigenous sovereignty, protects the land and water, and ensures the well-being of future generations. Numerous local chapters of Idle No More have been established, dedicated to upholding nation-to-nation treaties and safeguarding the rights of Mother Earth.
