Tenacious #17: Art and Writings by Women in Prison
by Vikki Law Author
The Mother's Day issues of this zine are always a particularly tough read. They focus primarily on the forced distance put between women and their children by the prison system. Kebby Warner writes a heartbreaking letter to her daughter, assuring her that she'd close the space between them if she could. Diana Waggy is serving an 85 year sentence, and shares her advice for staving off depression while incarcerated. Many women wrote poetry for this issue on various subjects including the repetition of prison life, getting a GED, and anger towards the prison industrial complex.
