In the annual Mother's Day issue of Tenacious, Heather write about the pain of not seeing her 8-year-old son since he was three (and having no contact with him either). Terrina asks if a parent can love and protect her child too much (having been sentenced to 28 years in prison for killing a man who broke into her home while her 5-year-old son was there). Marianne talks about the need for society to help reintegrate prisoners into life outside of prison. Jessica writes a letter to her son, who died in a car crash at the age of six (the same car crash that sent her to prison). And all of that is only the first third of this issue. As usual, Tenacious if chalk full of heart-breaking and inspiring stories of women struggling to live life stripped of the freedoms many of us take for granted.
