In the Dream House: A Memoir

A hypertext memoir, in a series of vignettes, some in the style of a choose-your-own adventure novel that traps you in the terrifying cycles of an emotionally abusive relationship. Queer emotional abuse is not often written about, and Machado's story opens up a space for more stories, from folklore to movies to statistics to cultural tropes. Beautifully written, and for all it's experimental that just brings out the truth that anyone who's done time in a Dream House of their own will instantly recognize.
