Why Women Have Better Sex Under Socialism: And Other Arguments for Economic Independence

Capitalism is bad for almost everyone, obviously, but it's even worse for most women. When right, socialism improves the lives of women in almost every aspect of their lives, even between the sheets. Author Kristen Ghodsee takes the idea that the problem is with capitalism, not with us, to its logical conclusion. As a professor of Eastern Europe Studies, Ghodsee invested years in data upon women in countries that changed from socialism to capitalism. She argues that capitalism punishes women disproportionately, and that even in our late stage capitalism hellscape there are some socialist ideas we can adopt to improve our lives. Instead of transactional experiences, a state with liberalized divorce laws, legalized abortion, invested in collective laundries and nurseries, enables women to have better sex and, more importantly, a better society to have sex in.
