This reference guide covers many aspects of Norse and Germanic mythologies—from the beliefs, beings, creatures, and other elements to be found as well as the customs and practices old of believers and new adherents. From the well-known gods to the notable and obscure magical beings, this book covers a wide swath of content that serves as a comprehensive primer to the Norse and Germanic world. It will also draw from notable primary sources such as the Eddas and other historical texts that have been preserved. The author will also cover the pagan aspect of this culture and mythology and will outline some of the practices of times of yore and its suppression as Christianity became the dominant religion in these areas.
