On Freedom Road: Bicycle Explorations and Reckonings on the Underground Railroad

by David Goodrich Author

All aboard! Author David Goodrich, a climate scientist, embarked on a four-year bicycle journey along the Underground Railroad to engage with American history and issues of sustainability. He traveled 3,000 miles, following the routes of the Underground Railroad and delving into the history and stories of those historic sites including Harriet Tubman's home in Maryland, the Oberlin College in Ohio, and the Delta Blues region of Mississippi. He also met with descendants of people who had escaped slavery and learned about their experiences. On Freedom Road offers a discerning account courage, hope, and the power of the human spirit.
