Xi'an Famous Foods: The Cuisine of Western China, from New York's Favorite Noodle Shop
This book gathers 100 recipes from a beloved NYC Chinese restaurant that specializes in the flavors and textures of the Shaanxi province, notably its capital Xi’an. Xi’an used to be a capital of China that holds much historical value—notably being an start/end point of the Silk Road that brought together flavors from all over but especially from West Asia/Middle East. The recipes inside are ones that many people might be unfamiliar but might well fall in love with! 75 of the recipes inside are dedicated to explore signature dishes, including foundational recipes that serve as bases or staples for other dishes—such as chili oil, noodles, broths, sauces, and more. It also shares the story of the family that set out and tried their luck in the NYC culinary scene—written with some narrative bits to explore a more personal background.
