Black Internet Effect (Pocket Change Collective)

by Shavone Charles Author and Ashley Lukashevsky Illustrator

The author of this book tells her story of her life in tech aiming to guide others in shaping a future where everyone, particularly women of color, feel empowered to make space for themselves and to challenge status quo's. Here she recounts how she's leaned on nerve and curiosity to guide her in life, which led her out of her small college in California to influential tech spaces at Google and Twitter -- eventually even landing her on the Forbes 30 under 30 list. Having been the first woman of color in many of the spaces she was in, she shares her story in hopes of solidifying the trailblazing she'd done thus far in her circles of influence. This book is for everyone but as part of Penguin Workshop Pocket Change Collective Series, it has been designed to be accessible to readers 12 and up.
