The Fern Pharmacy: Indigenous Wisdom & Modern Pharmacology
This is an herbalism guide that profiles and explores the properties of medicinal ferns throughout the globe. Fully illustrated/photographed, inside are over 500 species of ferns with detail on how indigenous peoples have used them throughout centuries--for sustenance or for medicinal purposes. It will explain the folk uses but then follow up with science-based explanations and research that explains how the treatments work for certain conditions. Readers will learn as much about pharmacology as they might about mythology and folk practices, for a wide variety of diseases and ailments. Please note that much of this book is for educational purposes and naturopathic uses for the featured plants and compounds should be consulted with someone qualified, ideally--especially since the ferns inside can have powerful properties that should be used responsibly.
