Bananeras: Women Transforming the Banana Unions of Latin America
by Dana Frank Author
This book chronicles how Bananeras, the female banana workers in Latin America, have been waging a powerful revolution by making gender equality a central issue in labor organizing in Latin America and beyond. The organizing work of these women had focused on a message of reaching out to younger women workers with a message of empowerment and providing an example of transnational feminism at work. This book shows how women's rights are at the center of global class politics, and how the successful work of these women to frame gender equality as a central issue raises up all workers.
