The Courage to Heal Workbook: A Guide for Women and Men Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse
by Laura Davis Author
A thoughtful, gentle, thorough workbook designed to help you heal from childhood sexual abuse in whatever form you experienced it. The author's been working and teaching in this field for decades, and knows how damn triggering it can be even to think about thinking about this stuff. The workbook begins with building coping skills, a support system, a safety plan, and a safe emotional environment. Only then do you start to tackle the harder stuff. Laura Davis is big on letting you know that whatever your memory (or lack thereof), or whatever part of your healing you are in, you're not alone in your experience. This was first published in the 90s, and it's a little dated in how it approaches gender (eg, the title) as well as in some of the practicalities (eg, you probably won't need to call the operator to get a list of your local crisis hotlines) but it remains an invaluable resource for survivors, their allies, and mental health professionals. You've got this.
