Waking the Tiger: Healing Trauma

Waking the Tiger is Peter Levine's book about his trademarked Somatic Experiencing therapy technique for recovering from traumas. Trademarked language aside, the book is readable and well regarded. It treats trauma not as a taboo, shocking event that marks you for life, but as a natural and normal response to overwhelming life experiences. Levine's exercises are about letting your body "remember" whatever's happened to you so that you so that you can properly process and get past it. Whether it's a car crash, childhood abuse, an ugly breakup, police brutality, witnessing violence, or something that you aren't even sure what it is yet, this might be worth taking a look at.
