Mother's Milk Project
by Noelle Fries Author
With this poster, commemorate the bravery of the Mohawk women who created the Mother's Milk Project, bringing attention to the toxic chemicals in breastmilk as a result of environmental contamination from a General Motors plant near the indigenous community of Akwesasne. Conducting research and engaging in advocacy to get the toxins cleaned up, women from the tribe singlehandedly raised awareness of the issue and brought international attention to bear on the injustices facing their community. Celebrate People's History with this poster from the series, and educate passersby in your home or classroom on this remarkable chapter in indigenous history.
