Another Century of Chemical Warfare

This zine presents a dualistic tale; on the one hand, it explores the current backdrop of the violent ICE raids in Chicago, where chemical agents are used against protestors, journalists, immigrants, people of all races and ethnicities (but notably Black and Latinx folks), and even unprepared police forces. On the other hand, it explores the history of chemical warfare of the US state against its citizenry (and their personal protective equipment responses), through a collection of photographs taken during the World War I era—between 1918 and 1920. The zine drives the point that chemical weapons have a history of hurting the people and our tax dollars fund it.
