Montgomery Bus Boycott
Everyone knows the story of Rosa Parks, but perhaps not everyone knows the full story of the Montgomery Bus Boycott that followed. On December 1st, 1955, Jo Ann Robinson, John Cannon, and two other students used the mimeograph machine at Alabama State College to produce 52,000 flyers calling for all Black folk in the Montgomery, Alabama area to boycott the buses. The boycott lasted 381 days and ended with a Supreme Court ruling that declared Montgomery's segregation laws unconstitutional. Celebrate the changemakers that brought you the boycott with this poster. Stick it up in your home or your classroom and educate passersby about the histories that brought us to where we are today.
