On December 4, 1967, Martin Luther King Jr. unveiled his plans for a Poor People’s Campaign, urging the nation to take decisive actions to eradicate poverty. Despite his assassination, the Campaign persisted, though it fell short of its ambitious vision. Fifty years later, a new Poor People’s Campaign has emerged from over a decade of dedicated grassroots movements fighting against poverty, racism, militarism, and environmental destruction. The Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival aims to establish a broad and profound national movement, rooted in the leadership of the impoverished, to unite from the grassroots up in a Campaign that can catalyze a moral revolution of values, ultimately achieving equality and justice for all people.
