Against Competition
by Marc Fischer Author Kione Kochi Illustrator
In this short essay, artist Marc Fisher makes the case against competition, arguing that rather than seek to get an edge on other artists in a process driven by capitalism, artists should seek opportunities to collaborate and work together in order to increase creativity and build networks. Fisher notes that this call for collaboration is not necessarily a call for shiny, happy cooperation or singing kumbaya, but a call to productive if adversarial meetings of minds. Succinct and still as timely as when it was first released, Against Competition is a must read for creatives hoping to find ways to foster success for themselves and others in the art world.
