Protester Portraits

This zine uses discarded press photos from the author’s collection. In Fall 2021, they purchased 1,000 press photos for their exhibition and zine Protest Grim Reapers, yielding only two photos for that project. The author has selected interesting uses for the rest, framing costumed or performative protesters as portraits, though most were part of larger compositions. They’ve retained events, causes, and the year each photo was taken, but omitted the photographer and newspaper credits.
