June Jordan, radical Black poet, activist, and teacher, made an enormous impact on the world of poetry and literature during her 65 years on earth. Perhaps best known for using Black English in her poetry and for her work making poetry accessible to a wide array of people as a means of personal and political expression, Jordan became known as 'the Poet of the People' during her tenure as a professor at the University of California, Berkeley.
