“Yes, it’s a dating guide. But if it were just about dating, I would have put the book aside after maybe 20 pages…Harper writes about how dramatic experiences from our past can affect our relationships. ‘Intimacy’ here means not only sexual intimacy, but also trust and the ability to open up to other people…Harper’s tone is honest, direct and entertaining, and includes lots of swearing! It’s exciting to learn how our upbringing, society’s religious values, our sexuality—and, perhaps, the stigma associated with it—as well as illness or disability, can shape our relationships…Even if you feel that everything is okay, you can get a lot out of this book—the importance of touch, for example, or even how to seriously doubt your self-doubt…”

well as it is replete with sarcasm, good humor, and grace.
